In April 2014, flames reduced the beloved gymnasium of Colegio San Agustin–Bacolod to ashes, leaving behind not only charred steel and fallen beams, but also a community in grief. For many Augustinians, the loss was more than structural — it was deeply personal. The gym had been a sanctuary of school spirit, athletic triumphs, assemblies, graduations, and shared memories.
A decade later, the story has taken flight.
Like a majestic eagle rising with unwavering strength and vision, the new CSAB Gymnasium now soars above the campus — a living testament to the indomitable spirit of the Augustinian community. Its revival is not merely about infrastructure; it is about faith, perseverance, and the commitment to excellence that defines the Augustinian identity.
Today, the gym proudly serves as the home court of CSAB’s Men’s Basketball Team — the reigning back-to-back champions of the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association (NOPSSCEA). Within its walls echo the cheers of students, alumni, and supporters who have witnessed not only victories on the scoreboard but also the formation of discipline, teamwork, and character.
Beyond athletics, the gymnasium has once again become the heart of campus life. It now hosts major in-campus and off-campus functions — from institutional assemblies and cultural celebrations to academic gatherings and community events. What was once a site of loss has transformed into a hub of renewed energy and purpose.
Soon, the gym will mark another historic milestone as it prepares to host basketball matches for the inaugural NIR PRISAA Games — positioning CSAB as a key venue in regional collegiate sports. This development not only underscores the facility’s world-class readiness but also affirms the school’s growing role in fostering athletic excellence across the region.
The new CSAB Gymnasium stands as more than concrete and steel. It embodies resilience forged through adversity, unity strengthened by challenge, and hope sustained by faith. Ten years after the fire, the message is clear: the Augustinian spirit does not falter — it rises, like an eagle taking flight.
And as the echoes of bouncing basketballs and jubilant cheers fill the arena once more, the eagle soars — strong, proud, and unwavering.
