+August 10, 1991

Fr. Suplicio Enderes, OSA hails from Maribojoc, Bohol. He professed his Solemn Profession to the Order on August 8, 1954. He was ordained to the priesthood on July 12, 1959.

Fr. Enderes is the first Filipino rector of the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu from 1970 to 1973. His appointment as rector happened before the creation of a Filipino Augustinian Province independent from Spain of the Provincia del Santissimo Nombre de Jesus de Filipinas under the Vicariate of the Philippines.

Before he became rector, in 1968, Fr. Enderes who was assigned in the Basilica del Santo Niño in Cebu brought with an image of Santo Niño when he visited San Jose Parish Placer in Iloilo City. He gave it to the then parish priest of San Jose, Rev. Fr. Ambrosio Galindez, OSA. With the historic giving of the Santo Niño, it marked the beginning of the grandest festival in Iloilo, the Dinagyang.
