13th APAC Triennial Convention held in Cebu

13th APAC Triennial Convention

The 13th Asia Pacific Augustinian Conference (APAC) Triennial Convention kicked off last October 2 to 7, 2017 at the Santo Niño Spirituality Center (SNSC) in Consolacion town.

Prior to the convention proper, a conference on new evangelization was attended by at least 45 participants from the following member congregations and orders:

  • Order of Saint Augustine Province of Santo Niño de Cebu – Philippines
  • Province of Our Mother of Good Counsel of Australasia
  • Vicariate of the Orient
  • Vicariate of Totus Christus of West Papua      Vicariate of the Blessed Japanese Martyrs (Japan)
  • Delegation of Saint Nicholas of Tolentino of Korea
  • Order of Augustinian Recollects
  • Province of Saint Ezekiel Moreno
  • Order of Discalced Augustinians
  • Province of Saint Nicholas of Tolentino Congregation of the Augustinians of the Assumption
  • Congregation of the Augustinian
  • Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation Congregation of the Augustinian
  • Sisters of Divine Love Congregation of the Augustinian
  • Sisters of the Divine Mercy Missionary Servants of the Holy Trinity Augustinian Missionaries of the Philippines Orantes of the Assumption

Cebu Auxiliary Bishop, Msgr. Oscar Jaime L. Florencio, DD graced the event on its second day and presided the Holy Mass.

On the following day, the participants went on a tour at Cebu City’s museums. Fr. Andres D. Rivera, Jr., OSA, Prior Pro-vincial of Santo Niño de Cebu Province presided the mass at the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño which was followed by a sump-tuous banquet sponsored by the Basilica del Santo Niño Community. 

Business matters were discussed on the following days by various major superiors of the member Congregations and Orders as well as the election of new APAC officials for the term 2017 – 2020.

The following were elected officials: President – Sr. Niceta M. Vargas, OSA

Vice President – Fr. David Austin, OSA Secretary – Sr. Diosie T. Tangca-ag, OSA Treasurer – Fr. Andres D. Rivera, Jr., OSA.

Moreover, our brothers from the Province, Fr. Andrew P. Payola, OSA was elected as Chairman of the Education Committee and Fr. Aladdin P. Luzon is a Member of the Justice and Peace Committee.
