Twenty-nine friars composed of the leaders of the Province – Provincial Officers led by Fr. Eusebio Berdon, OSA Prior Provincial, the Chairmen of Provincial Commissions and Local Priors of the religious houses of the Province – attended the five-day 2015 Annual Assembly on March 2-6, 2015 at Sto. Niño Spirituality Center, in Tolotolo, Consolacion, Cebu.

The annual assembly is a regualar gathering of the said delegates to evaluate the year of implementation of plans and the witnessing of Augustinian life in the Province. This includes reports of the efforts and status of religious life with its spiritual and temporal aspects both in the Provincial and Local levels. This year’s goal also was to bring into the attention of the friars the upcoming celebration of the Ordinary Provincial Chapter comes 2016. It encouraged them to spiritually prepare for the opening of a new term for the Province. The next term will be the time for the election of new leaders and of setting the Province for a direction. In the assembly, they were challenged to prayerfully discern for the direction of the Province to take.

The meeting was also enriching as the participants were assisted with the spiritual conference facilitated by Sr. Niceta Vargas, OSA, the Superior General of the Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation and a biblical scholar. She focused in her spiritual conferences the themes of the Year of the Poor and of the Consecrated Life in time for this year’s ecclesial thrust.

By this assembly of leaders, a fresher space to continue Augustinian witness has been reinvigorated and the determination to be servants of the Church through its apostolates and ministry has been aflamed. Moreover, in the outset, there was greater hope after fruitful dialog, honest evaluation and renewal in the encounter among leaders. Congratulations! (Admin)
