On July 15, 2015, the Basilica del Sto. Nino was the venue of the encounter of all religious men and women of Cebu as Archbishop Jose Rondriguez Carballo OFM DD, met and addressed them in a three-hour forum. Frs. Eusebio Berdon, OSA and Jonas Mejares, OSA welcomed the Archbishop on behalf of the Basilica and the Augustinian Province of Sto. Nino de Cebu. Carballo was joined by his fellow Franciscans from Manila and met in the morning of the same day the Major Superiors in the Archdiocese of Cebu. Mons. Carballo is currently the Secretary of Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.
