SACS Community Visits the Bishop of Cubao

April 4, 2025 - SACS Community Visits the Bishop of Cubao

The members of the San Agustin Center of Studies (SACS) in Proj. 6, Quezon City, headed by the House Prior, Fr. Rommel D. Par, OSA, paid the traditional courtesy call at the residence of the bishop of Cubao, His Exc. Elias L. Ayuban, Jr., DD, located at Lantana Street across the Cathedral of the Immaculate Concepcion, last April 03, 2025. Eleven out of the fourteen members of the community were present, including two priests from the Vicariate of Christus Totus in Indonesia. The Provincial Treasurer, Fr. John Ion Miranda, who happened to be on a visit to SACS, also joined the group.

Bishop Ayuban is the second to be assigned to the diocese of Cubao. He is the successor of Bishop Honesto Ongtioco who went on retirement just last October 2024. He originally came from Parang in Maguindao del Norte, but had recently been working at the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life in Rome before his appointment as bishop of Cubao in Quezon City. His installation as new bishop took place last Dec. 03, 2024.

The members of the community were introduced individually and information were exchanged about the diocese of Cubao in general and its pastoral needs as well as the various apostolates being carried out by the SACS community. The Augustinian friars expressed their willingness to help the diocese in any way the local bishop sees fit and opportune. The conversation was carried out in a very cordial and informal manner, interjected with recollection of people known personally to both Bishop Ayuban and the members of the SACS community. The visit, which started at 5:00 PM, lasted for about an hour. It was followed by a hearty dinner at Bellini’s restaurant located along Gen. Romulo Avenue in the Cubao area, during which the conversion continued more informally. (SACS Facebook Page)
