In 1565, the Philippines witnessed the arrival of the first-ever missionaries, the Augustinians, who set the stage for a profound legacy of religious devotion. Fast forward to the present, and these stalwart servants of the Church continue to carry the torch of faith, not only within their homeland but also to distant corners of the globe. Inaugurated as a province in 1984, Filipino Augustinians have transitioned from recipients of faith to bearers of faith, embarking on international missions as pastors and collaborators in the different circumscriptions of the Order of Saint Augustine.
Moreover, in a special way, every June 10 is declared in the Province as Mission Awareness Day in commemoration of the death of Rev. Fr. Bernardino Ricafrarente, OSA, who died while being assigned in Indonesia in 2004.
As of 2023, there are 24 friars affiliated to the Province who are collaborating and working as missionaries or as students extending their mission worldwide, forging bonds of faith and understanding with diverse cultures and communities.
