The open book stands for the Holy Scriptures (the Bible) and how St. Augustine turned to Christianity. It represents God’s teachings, which give us light and wisdom.

The arrow that goes through the heart shows how God’s Spirit touches our hearts. It tells us to keep growing in faith, hope, and love. This is why St. Augustine was always searching for God in everything he did.
