The Commission on Vocation and Youth of the Province of Santo Niño de Cebu-Philippines is gearing up for the hosting of the “Augustinian Youth Gathering” scheduled to take place on November 11-12, 2023, at the Santo Nino Spirituality Center in Consolacion, Cebu.
This event aligns with the objectives set forth in the Quadrennial Program approved during the 10th Ordinary Provincial Chapter in 2020, aiming to streamline the operations of the Augustinian Youth Ministry (AYM), foster youth formation in line with Augustinian values, and enhance cooperation among various youth organizations.
In an effort to achieve these goals, the Commission extends a warm invitation to Priors and Superiors of local communities to send two representatives each to participate in this significant gathering. In cases where multiple apostolates coexist within a community, such as a parish and school, the Commission requests representation from each institution.
The two-day event will feature a series of programs, including:
- Creation of a Province-wide Augustinian Youth Organization (AYO): A discussion on establishing a cohesive organization to unify Augustinian youth efforts across the province.
- Creating a Culture of Religious Vocation Promotion: A talk designed to foster an environment that encourages religious vocation among the youth.
- Review of AYO By-Laws: An examination of the by-laws governing the Augustinian Youth Organization to ensure alignment with its mission and objectives.
- Planning of AYO Activities for 2024-2028: Collaborative planning to chart the course of Augustinian youth activities for the next four years.
Participants are requested to pay a registration fee of P3,000.00. For additional information and inquiries, interested parties are encouraged to contact the Rev. Fr. Basilio Sugataon, OSA, the chair of the Commission, via phone at 0919 341 8277 or through email at eagle0281@gmail.com.
The Commission emphasizes the importance of cooperation in fulfilling the mission of the Province to promote and sustain the Augustinian way of life through effective vocation promotion. It is hoped that this gathering will further strengthen the engagement and unity of youth as they contribute to the Church as Augustinian collaborators and vocation promoters.
