In a recent webinar on March 16, 2023 entitled “On Liturgy and Synodality,” Most Rev. Ronald I. Lunas, D.D. shared his insights on the relationship between the two.

During the virtual conference, Bishop Lunas, the Bishop of the Diocese of Pagadian, reflected on the call to synodality and the experience of liturgy.

He highlighted that synodality is an integral part of the Church’s very nature, and it is through this that the Church is called to move forward on its journey toward God’s kingdom.

Synodality is closely connected to Liturgy, and the renewal of the Church in Vatican II is expressed in Sacro Sanctum Concilium- the document on Liturgy.

The webinar was attended by fifty participants nationwide and in some parts of the world which includes Augustinian friars based in South Korea and Italy, seminarians, religious sisters in Indonesia, contemplative nuns, and laity.

Organized by the Commission on Liturgy and Augustinian Devotions of the Augustinian Province of Santo Niño de Cebu – Philippines, headed by their chairman, Rev. Fr. Noel P. Cogasa, OSA, the webinar provided an opportunity for participants to better understand the relationship between Synodality and Liturgy and how both are essential components of the Church.

Bishop Lunas concluded by inviting everyone to journey as a community and together, ‘Let us pray.’
