The Order of Saint Augustine (OSA) Province of Santo Niño de Cebu- Philippines represented by the Basilica del Sto. Niño de Cebu (BMSN) Media Centre team and the Augustinian Sisters of the Our Lady of Consolation (ASOLC) attended by their teacher and students of La Consolacion College (LCC) were among the participants of the social communications workshop organized by the Conference on Major Superiors in the Philippines (CMSP).
CMSP held its second formation course on safeguarding, social communication, sustainable ecology and servant leadership at the BMSN Aula Magna Hall, Sto. Niño Pilgrim Center from October 10-12, 2023.
With the theme “A Church safe for all and care of our common home – A journey of servant leaders to Synodality,” CMSP invited experts in the field of social media management, basic video production and media education.
Sr. Ma. Cleofe J. Trance, OP emphasized that the purpose of the workshop is to orient the members of CMSP likewise lay partners on how to maximize social media as a tool for evangelization.
More than 20 participants from different orders, congregations, and religious organizations participated in the three-day activity.
On the first day of the course, Fr. Christian Buenafe, OCarm, talked about the importance of media education in the modern world specifically on social media and mainstream as platforms of hope, justice, and peace.
Meanwhile, Mr. Lord Jarasandha Fenomeno, Master Editor and Consultant for Post Production of the Communications Foundation of Asia (CFA), discussed the basics of video production— from pre-production to post-production on the second day of the workshop.
On the last day of training, TV Maria’s Social Media Head, Ms. Kathlynne Janice Diaz, shared about how to manage social media accounts in the context of online evangelization.
As part of the formation course, participants were divided into groups and were tasked to create and produce content for social media.
Sr. Rosalie P. Ruiz, RSM, one of the participants, expressed her gratitude to have attended and be part of the workshop as she learned new things about the use of social media and how to maximize it in order to evangelize.
“It is not a coincidence that I am here. I do not know yet (the reason) but maybe later on…” Sr. Ruiz said.
The second leg of the formation course will be held virtually on October 23-25, 2023 which will focus on safeguarding Mother Earth.
The workshop culminated with the giving of certificates and tokens of participation to the participants. /BMSN Media Centre Team
