All six Augustinian-administered schools of the Province of Santo Niño de Cebu– Philippines participated in the biggest gathering of Catholic Schools in the country from October 17-20, 2023 in Cebu City.
Representatives from Colegio San Agustin (CSA)– Biñan, Colegio San Agustin– Mati, Colegio del Santo Niño (CSN), San Jose Catholic School, University of San Agustin (USA)– Iloilo, and Colegio San Agustin– Bacolod were among the delegates of the National Convention of Catholic Educators Association of the Philippines (CEAP).
The four-day National CEAP Convention was centered on the theme, “Pilgrims of Hope: Exploring Pathways of Synodality,” where a series of conferences, plenary sessions, dialogues, and recognitions were prepared by the organizers.
CEAP also invited representatives from the government to share on the reality of education in the Philippines and how the Catholic institutions and government can collaborate to address the concerns on education in the country.
On the last day of the convention, His Excellency Most Rev. Charles John Brown, D.D., Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of the Philippines, presided over the closing mass.
He invited every Catholic educator, every parent, every individual to see Christ in every child, as inspired from the devotion to the Child Jesus, the Santo Niño.
“Isn’t what makes the devotion here in Cebu and throughout the Philippines to Santo Niño so beautiful and so radiant. This idea of Christ as a child,” the Nuncio said.
Most Rev. Brown further emphasized that the best catholic education that every educator and parent could give is a ‘Christ-centered education’ by teaching and helping children to believe in Christ, to be people of prayer, and to be of service to others.
Meanwhile, the pilgrim image of Santo Niño de Cebu from the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño (BMSN) was also brought to the venue of the national convention.
More than 3,000 delegates nationwide joined in this year’s CEAP convention.
