Prayers During Synodal Assembly

The Final phase of the Synod on Synodality which concludes in 2024 will be held in two sessions. The first session will take place from October 4 to 29, 2023 and the second session will take place in October 2024. The first session focuses on the theme of “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission” and involves the participation of bishops, priests, and religious and lay people from different parts of the world.

The General Curia of the Order of Saint Augustine sent this copy of prayer intentions to be included during Lauds and Vespers; included in it is a prayer before the final blessing at Eucharist (cf. attached document). You may incorporate these intentions until the 29th of October 2023.

PRAYER FOR LAUDS
Our God, in your mercy you have called us to live in unity of mind and heart.

  • Grant that at the Synodal Assembly in Rome your will may be fulfilled and that all may work together to strengthen the bond of brotherly love within your Church.

PRAYER FOR VESPERS
Lord our God, you fill the hearts of all people with the light of the Holy Spirit.

  • We pray that the participants in the Synodal Assembly in Rome may seek you with love in all things and joyfully do your will.

PRAYER FOR THE SYNOD (4-29 October) BEFORE THE FINAL BLESSING AT EUCHARIST
“O Lord, inspire us with the fire of charity to pursue the Holy One, with one heart… so that we may not be dispersed in multiplicity…”, “for we are on the way to unity having diversity as our starting point”. “May love unite us” (cf. Ser. 284, 4). “May your truth give birth in us to be of one heart” (Conf. 12, 30, 41), and may we feel “always dissatisfied with what we are in order to reach what we aspire to” (Ser. 169, 18). “And, when you are all things in all, you will be our common possession, our common peace, our joy and our rest” (cf. Ps. 84:10).
Amen.
